For Ad 2 Orlando's 2009-2010
Public Service campaign committee chairs Wayne Kan, Susan Watts and Kristina Doyle took proposals from a number of non-profits and settled upon the
Center for Great Apes based in Wauchula, Florida.
About
The Center for Great Apes mission is to provide a permanent sanctuary for orangutans and chimpanzees who have been retired from the entertainment industry, from research, or who are no longer wanted as pets. The Center provides care with dignity in a safe, healthy, and enriching environment for great apes in need of lifetime care. The sanctuary is located on over 100 acres a few miles from the beautiful Peace River in south central Florida. The tropical forest setting of oak, pine, magnolia, sweet gum, willow, bamboo, palm, guava, mango, ginger, banana, and other exotic fruit trees is similar to great apes' native habitats. The heavily wooded environment is surrounded by hundreds of acres of grapefruit and orange groves.
Results
Below are videos created for the campaign and the website that Ad 2 Orlando made. All of the time and materials were donated resulting in zero out of pocket expense for the Center. The great achievements earned the group top honors in the national Ad 2 Public Service competition. We look forward to see what great accomplishments they can achieve this year.
