Consumer Marketing Manager, Canada

Visit Orlando has an exciting opportunity for someone who has a minimum of 7 to 10 years of advertising, brand/consumer marketing or agency experience . This candidate must love travel/Orlando as they will have the opportunity to work on a global travel brand and one of the largest Destination Marketing Organizations (DMO) in the country.  This position will be the first point of contact for the Canada market and will assist the VP of Global Marketing in setting the strategic direction, determining creative needs, project timelines, deadlines, next steps and actionable results. The Consumer Marketing Manager will manage production of all advertising projects which will include interaction with internal departments ( Research, Communications (including Social Media) Broadcast & Promotions Marketing and Travel Trade). We are looking for a team-player that is smart, positive and energetic. Must take the initiative and work independently, orchestrating all resources.

MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Responsible for the development and execution of the Canada annual marketing campaigns which includes working with research to gather and review pertinent information, managing those creative and media agencies involved. Acts as project manager for the campaigns ensuring all deadlines are met and review and analyze results and provides future recommendations during and after the campaigns.
  • Serves as Team Leader for Canada. Responsible for aligning strategies and goals, facilitating team meetings, ensure alignment of messaging, find extension opportunities and keeping the team (internal and external) on track for goals.
  • Responsible for ensuring creative and messaging meets the market strategy based on insights, research results and company strategy. Work closely with creative agency, media agency and research to develop gaps in the creative/messaging executions.
  • Provide analytical and observational competitive updates and impact on marketing strategy, including creative and market programs. Oversees project management of the Canada campaigns and ensure all elements are properly delivered according to plan.
  • Work with Broadcast & Promotions and the media agency on the negotiation, reviewing and implementation of relevant broadcast and promotional activities. Including finding extension opportunities and alignment with Communications and Social Media.
  • Works with Travel Industry Sales on negotiating, reviewing and implementing trade cooperative campaign in Canada.
  • Work with Travel Industry Sales and Membership Sales on negotiating, reviewing and implementing valuable membership cooperatives.
  • Responsible for budget management and reporting and all campaign and country metrics.
  • Work closely with campaign partners (including theme parks, and Brand USA among others) to ensure streamline communication and implantation of campaigns.
  • Manage agencies and ensure proper communication of all activities contracted for. Responsible for maintaining production procedures with agency and publications as well as internal clients.
  • Communicate Visit Orlando’s direction and activities to in-country reps for appropriate countries.
  • Take on new projects, campaigns and initiatives as assigned based on overall scope of work for global marketing team needs and priorities.
  • Ensures protection of the Orlando and Visit Orlando brand. Serves as a Brand ambassador.
  • Ensures own work area is maintained in safe and clean manner.
  • Performs other accountabilities and projects as assigned.
  • Develops RFPs and leads or advises on selection process of outside vendors following Visit Orlando purchasing guidelines.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

B.A. / B.S. degree from four-year college or university. A minimum of seven to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience (particularly advertising, brand / consumer marketing or agency experience). Proven experience in development of successful marketing campaigns, managing large advertising budget and complex timelines.

COMPUTER SKILLS:

Intermediate or higher level of proficiency in MS Word, Outlook, Power Point and Excel are required. Some Access or other database experience is preferred. 50 cwpm in typing.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Must demonstrate strong verbal/written skills and the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public. Ability to speak and write Spanish fluently. Portuguese a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
